J.Crew Style

by Kéla Walker

What can I say about today’s post other than J.Crew made me do it. More than great clothes the retailer has AH-MAZ-ING style. Here’s how create the J.Crew style and look on a budget…

Like pretty much everyone I know,  I’m a fan of  J.Crew however my pockets are not. I just can’t bring myself to pay hundreds of dollars for fancy pants or any article of clothing for that matter. (FYI I paid 15 bucks for these pants which are very Komparable to a J.Crew pair). I can however take note of the J.Crew style and create the look for less.  Part of J.Crew’s  allure is their exceptional ability to balance the classics with luxury.  The J.Crew style is polished and chic yet very sensible. There’s a reason FLOTUS  Michele Obama constantly wears their clothes.  The trick to the J.Crew style is the mixing and matching- whether its the stripes and sequins or  metallic with denim for a perfect effortless look. Today’s look was inspired by J.Crew Spring 13 lookbook. I saw it recently for the umpteenth time and realized that I had all the elements in my kloset to recreate the J.Crew style. (NOTE, flipping through catalogues/lookbooks and pinterest is great inspiration)   The jacquard metallic with the metallic detail blouse are super glam and high impact together but by layering on the sweatshirt and denim jacket, the sparkling look is neutralized and balanced.  Add the signature J Crew cuffed sleeve and the monotone pattern shoes… it’s a look that can only be described as the J.Crew style.
