Take Your Favorite Summer Maxi Into Winter With This Easy Style Trick

by Kéla Walker

I love my maxi’s and despite the weather getting cold I’m in no rush to pack them away with my summer clothes.  Really, if you know how to layer right, there is no need to.

Who of us doesn’t love a good maxi. We ALL DO, which is why I’m taking my sweet time to pack them away.  We tend to think of them as strictly summer pieces but with the right layering tactics , you can wear them all year longor as I like to refer to it, winterize them.  I’m notorious for taking my favorite pieces from the summer and making them wearable in the cold, like this maxi.  I wore this maxi skirt for my birthday brunch back in July.  This time around I switched out the tank top for a chunky knit and denim jacket.

As it gets colder you can layer tights and boots under the skirt without anyone knowing.  The only key to winterizing your favorite summer pieces is to make sure the material is not light and flimsy like chiffon or silk but even they have room in the winter wardrobe, if done right.

I had just as much fun wearing this maxi in the cold as I did in the summer.
