Patent leather, PVC, plastic, the slick look, whatever you call it the vinyl trend is the sleek look of the moment. Here are my tips to wear the look without looking risqué or wet and slippery.
KONFESSION ~ I purchased this vinyl skirt over a year ago (on super sale) long before the vinyl trend was so big. I loved the high shine of the piece + the pencil cut style. There’s something so sophisticated and empowering about the two in one. And that’s exactly how many celebs have been seen sporting the trend. From Ciara and Ashley Madekwe to Kim Kardashian & The Saturdays’ Rochelle Wiseman , they have all rocked the sleek vinyl trend in pencil skirts. I love the look but I can definitely see how it can feel a little
S&M risque and end up going all the way wrong.
Here are a couple of my kloset klues to help you pull off the vinyl trend and not look like a hot slippery mess.
~Balance the severity of the vinyl with subtle neutral items like a white blouse, a soft cashmere sweater or sweatshirt like I did.
~ Let the vinyl be the focus of your look & minimize your accessories
~ Combat the risqué complex by trying the look in soft colors like pink and cream like here
~ Lasty, take baby steps with the vinyl trend. I love how my skirt is 1/2 vinyl 1/2 cotton. If a full on vinyl piece is too much for you, try something small like gloves, belts or a pieces with partial vinyl details
