What I Wore ~ 67th Annual Tony Awards

by Kéla Walker

Hey Kuties. Happy Monday! I just wanted to do a quick post and recap of the Tony  Awards red carpet and style.  Once upon a time The Tony Awards were on my dream cover list (along with the Grammy’s and  a few others) but I have been covering the Tony Awards red carpet and the awards for three years now so I kind of have a hang of the event and what to wear for the red carpet.

Klick inside to see my full  Tony Awards Red Carpet look and more fashion and style from the event.

Some how it has worked out that every year I end up wear Ivy and Blu for Tony Awards red carpet.  This year I wasn’t too sure what I would wear for the biggest night on Broadway , that is until I saw this sequin LBD!  Normally I don’t wear black on camera / for work but this little number is not your typical black dress.  Besides the aztec print of sequins that run down the middle (which BTW aligns the bodice perfectly for a a great  illusion /  hourglass silhouette )  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cut out detail at the top along the should blade.  It’s those little details that made me fall in love with a dress.  Paired with my favorite shoes of the moment, it was the perfect dress to work the Tony Awards red carpet. You know me, I dont like to be overdone but I also dont want to be underwhelming.   I dont even know why I doubted what I would wear this year… in true form Ivy and Blu worked like a charm.

Some of my favorites of the night included Judith Licht who took home a Tony (Best Actress Featured Role in a Play) in this gorgeous in Zac Posen gown.  Notice the cutout detail along her should blades as well.

Despite being black, I really liked Laurie Metcalf’s dress. It had an architectural appeal to it with the structured front.  It was very striking in person and mad her look very stunning.

Condola Rashad (daughter of Phylicia  & Ahmad Rashad ) SHOWED UP AND OUT at this year’s awards.  Dare I say this mght be the best I have ever seen her on the carpet and can’t wait to see her grow even more into her stardom.

Condola’s co-star MS CICELY TYSON arrived at the Tony Awards serving all types of fabulousity in this plum ruffle number.  She’s looks damn to be 80 years old, heck, better than most women half her age.  Nominated for Lead Actress in a Play, The Trip to Bountiful is Ms. Tyson’s  first time on Broadway in 30 years and she came to win; taking her  second Tony Award home in style.
