Must See: Yayoi Kusama Give Me Love #ObliterationRoom

by Kéla Walker

If you don’t do anything else this weekend you have to check out the Yayoi Kusama Give Me Love exhibit at the David Zwirner Gallery. It’s the last weekend to step check out the Obliteration Room before it closes up this weekend.

I got to check out the  Yayoi Kusama Give Me Love Obliteration Room exhibit earlier this month and I LOVED IT.  I seriously  had a blast. Yall should know by now that I love interactive and public art. I’m not a huge art buff but those forms always  always spark something. I know it’s just art but that’s the beauty of it all, it stimulates something within you. Plus, I live for new experiences so it goes without saying that I had to check out the Give Me Love exhibit and snap a few cool picts.

Guests are invited to show the exhibit some love by placing colorful dots throughout the space.

When the exhibit kicked off May 9th the Obliteration Room was an all white canvas.

By the time I got there June 1, it looked like this.

Huge difference right? My gfriend and I had a blast taking in the experience and making out mark on the space.

How could you not love this exhibit?   It’s so genius and simple at the same time.  I love the complex simplicity of it. Of course I had a little fun with the dots and included a few on myself.

After the Obliteration Room you move into a larger space with sculptural pieces

And if that’s not enough there’s are even a few painting highlighting  the artist colorful aesthetic.

If you’re in the NYC area, check out the Give Me Love exhibit at the David Zwirner  for yourself. I assure you, you’ll have fun!!! Oh yeah and be prepared to stand in line.  It’s a pretty popular exhibit and can only hold a few people at a time thus the line is down the block.
