Day 1 of My Anguilla Getaway + What I wore in the Caribbean

by Kéla Walker

If you’ve been logging onto my Instagram you know that I skipped town for Memorial Day weekend to a glorious getaway in Anguilla. This trip completely changed my mindset about the Caribbean. Kontinue to see my home away from home and what I wore on the island of tranquility wrapped in blue

CuisinArt Resort and Spa Anguilla

It was my first time on the island but lord willing it will not be my last. This is the 1st of many post detailing my experience on the beautiful and island. CuisinArt Resort and Spa Anguilla served as my home for the duration of my stay and the perfect backdrop for today’s post.  Upon landing on the grounds I was greeted by this beautiful infinity pool. It’s literately the first thing you see when you exit your car and enter the hotel. GORGEOUS. Sadly I never got to play in the pool. I know. I know but I did get to splash around in the sea. More on that later.

The grounds are everything you could imagine from a luxury resort;  equipped with a tennis court, a bocce court and even a farmhouse where fruits & vegetables grown for hotel cuisine. Ahhhhhh, it  just occurred to me why I a bowl of fresh cherry  tomatoes awaited me in my room. I love great service, don’t you?

Speaking of my room, my suite was pretty sizable and included just about everything I could need, including bug spray and a hair brush  that was perfect for snatching my hair back.  Gotta love that. You know typically I never wear my hair off my face  but after getting it wet in the sea, I really didn’t have a choice. I think that brush made all the difference and I actually really like how this look turned out, but I digress.

Every morning I woke up to this view. It may not seem like much but considering one of the best beaches in Anguilla , Rendevous Bay, was just 10 feet away it was a gorgeous sight to see everyday.

The natives of Anguilla are so gracious and just all around warm people; which I saw time and time again in the staff  during my stay at the CuisinArt Resort and Spa Anguilla. In fact a worker snapped these photos of me. She was quite the director, instructing me to do hand on hip poses (which I always try to avoid). I kept saying “No, I dont want to” and she would respond “comon ghurl, you gotto wurk those hans & legs” (that was my effort at writing in a Carribbean dialect, just be glad you didn’t have to hear me).  She was great. Thanks Venetta!!

About this look… I had some reluctancy  buying the complete outfit. 1. it was featured on the mannequin which I try to avoid at all times- too cliche and recognizable
2. I didn’t think I’d have anywhere to wear the full set too. Sure I could wear it on a Saturday outing but that seemed too blah. However I glad I threw all caution to the wind and buy it . It was perfect for Anguilla. The island and my hotel provide the most picturesque  backdrop for this look.
I can’t wait to share more of my experience with you. These photos were actually taken the next to last day (Hence my glistening tanned skin ) so there lots more in store.
