A Day In Detroit

by Kéla Walker

I’ve been doing a lot of traveling this spring & summer season which has meant a lot of packing. This weekend I packed up a few fashion essentials for an overnight trip to Detroit.

Kontinue to see my summer essentials for quick and easy style.

From India to Anguila, Puerto Rico and New Orleans, it’s been nonstop for me and my Kloset this summer.  Just when I thought I was slowing down, I had to make a quick trip to Detroit this past weekend.  I wasn’t quite sure of what to expect in the D but I knew I didn’t want to over-pack. Anytime I go anywhere, I carry along a few wardrobe summer essentials – easy, versatile pieces that require little to no thought for a great look. Think maxi’s, shift dresses, coordinating sets, stylish flats, statement jewelry and bold bags that give me a stylish look with little to no effort.   Add to that list this  little denim number that I packed for Detroit.  I love how cool and casual it is – not to mention effortless.   I was dressed in a snap, literally (the buttons are snap closure- easy for getting on and taking off quickly for bathroom runs) giving me more time to explore the D.  I’d never been before and was curious to see a few things especially since my friend Christen is a native of the City.    How beautiful is this area we stumbled upon? It’s called Belle Isle and looks more like a monument that belongs in Washington than something you would find in Detroit.  No Shade.

I didn’t get to explore the City as much as I liked, I was there for roughly 36 hours,  but it was interesting to see a a placed I’d heard so much about.
